INVOICES & LANDED COSTS
Make the basis visible.
- 01
Match the supplier invoices
Attach several invoice references to a PO. Compare ordered, received and invoiced quantities and review price differences. Duplicate references need attention.
- 02
Allocate the added charges
Assign freight, duties, fees or discounts to selected receipt lines. Allocate by goods value by default, or by quantity. The allocation total reconciles to the source charge.
- 03
Preserve currency context
Keep the supplier’s original currency and amount. Conversion into store currency needs a manually entered rate with its date and source. Mark excluded amounts, such as recoverable taxes, separately.
- 04
Approve the product cost
A manager reviews the latest finalized receipt’s landed unit cost. Shopify has one product cost across all locations, so the approval screen must make that store-wide effect clear.
- 05
Keep late changes in the history
A later charge produces a dated revision. The earlier receipt and approval remain in the record, and the changed basis requires another review.

ONE COST FIELD, MANY LOCATIONS
Review before
you replace.
Shopify’s cost field is shared across locations. Inventory uses the latest finalized receipt as the selected basis; an older delivery should not silently replace a newer cost.
